If you arrive at Casa Lima with a rental car, you get a little Spanish culture lesson thrown in for free.
Because driving in Andalusia isn’t quite the same as driving back home.
Take the hazard lights.
Stopping at the bakery? Hazard lights on.
Dropping someone off? Hazard lights on.
Picking something up? Hazard lights on.
The car may be sitting slightly in the middle of the road, but hey — the lights are flashing. Everyone knows you’re there.
And then there are the indicators. They sometimes seem to have a slightly more creative interpretation here. So you quickly learn not only to look at what a car is indicating, but also at what it is actually doing.
At first, this can feel a little chaotic when you’re driving your rental car.
But something funny happens after a few days.
You relax.
There’s surprisingly little honking. Someone stops unexpectedly? You wait. A car is partly blocking the road? You simply drive around it. Someone hesitates? Give them another second.
No drama. No race. No angry look through the window.
Just: okay, this is how we’re doing it.
And perhaps that’s the best approach to driving during your stay at Casa Lima.
Look ahead. Take your time. And don’t let the traffic decide how rushed your day should be.
Because you’re in Andalusia.
You have the mountains, the white villages, the olive trees and that beautiful Spanish light.
A few flashing hazard lights can surely be part of the experience.
Relaxed driving. Your holiday in Málaga has already started.
