Summer gets all the attention in Andalusia.
Sunshine. Beaches. Long lunches.
And temperatures that occasionally make you wonder whether your flip-flops are actually melting.
But then autumn arrives.
And honestly?
We think it might just be the best time of year to be here.
Everything turns green again
After months of heat and almost no rain, the landscape has had enough.
Then the first autumn showers arrive — and suddenly, Andalusia wakes up.
The hills turn green again. Wildflowers start appearing. The countryside smells different. The mountains look fresher.
It is still unmistakably Andalusia. Just with the volume turned down a little.
Warm enough. Cool enough.
Autumn here doesn’t mean woolly jumpers and grey skies.
Far from it.
Days are often wonderfully warm, but without the relentless summer heat. Perfect for walking, exploring villages, sitting outside with a coffee or taking a long, lazy lunch.
And in the evening, you might actually want a light jacket.
Which, after a Spanish summer, feels almost exotic.
Fewer people. More Spain.
This is perhaps our favourite part.
The summer crowds have gone home. Roads are quieter. Restaurants have space again. You can visit the beautiful white villages without feeling like you’re part of a guided tour of 400 people.
And because there are fewer visitors, everyday Andalusian life becomes more noticeable.
People are back to their routines. Markets feel local again. The cafés are filled with people who actually live here.
This is the Andalusia we love.
The perfect time to explore
Autumn is also made for getting out into the countryside.
Go hiking in the mountains. Discover a tiny village you’ve never heard of. Visit Málaga without sweating your way through it. Drive into the hills and stop somewhere simply because the view looks good.
There is no need to rush.
And that is exactly the point.
